Artificial turf in Las Vegas, NV
Las Vegas is home to about 660,929 people in Clark County. Here is what the local climate means for a turf lawn, which of our nine lines we would pick, and who can install it.
The climate in Las Vegas, in numbers
Summer afternoons in Las Vegas average 102 F, so a lawn here spends months under strong sun. Real grass needs a lot of water to survive that; turf needs none.
With about 4 inches of rain a year, this is dry country. Watering is the largest cost of a natural lawn here, and often the first thing a utility restricts.
USDA hardiness zone 9a.

Turf lines that fit Las Vegas
All nine lines ship here at the same price as anywhere else, $2.60 to $3.50 per square foot. These are the ones we would start with for this climate.

The $10 comes off a later turf order. Turf is cut to your length and cannot be returned, so a sample is the safe first step.
Water rules and rebates that apply in Las Vegas
SNWA Water Smart Landscapes rebate rebate
Southern Nevada Water Authority pays $5 per square foot of grass converted to desert landscaping for the first 10,000 square feet ($2.50 after that for homes, $1.50 for businesses and HOAs), with a $100 bonus per qualifying tree.
Artificial turf: Permeable artificial turf is accepted as a substitute for mulch, but plants must still cover at least 50 percent of the converted area at maturity; impermeable materials are not allowed.

Southern Nevada mandatory watering schedule restriction
Las Vegas Valley Water District customers water on assigned days only: one day a week in winter (November to February), three days a week in spring and fall, and never on Sundays; watering outside your days is billable water waste.

Nevada nonfunctional grass ban (AB 356) and new-development grass ban restriction
From January 1, 2027 Colorado River water delivered by SNWA member agencies may not irrigate nonfunctional grass on property not zoned exclusively single-family; since December 2021 new homes and commercial developments in Southern Nevada may not install irrigated grass at all.
Artificial turf: The law does not regulate artificial turf; SNWA notes an HOA may still restrict materials such as artificial turf.
